Poker Glossary

A Poker Glossary added on the site!

Aces Up:
Two pair, with one one pair being aces. For example, if someone holds AJ and the board is AKJ74, that person has “aces up” since they hold a two pair of aces and jacks.

Action:
Betting, raising, and calling. A game with a lot of action is a game in which a lot of money is changing hands. These are good games to seek, because the more money moves, the more opportunity you have to win money.

Add-on:
A purchase of more chips (optional) at the end of the re-buy period in a tournament.

Aggressive:
A player who bets and raises a lot when he has a good hand. See also: Passive, Tight, Loose

All In:
When a Player puts the last of their Chips into a Pot, that Player is said to be All-in.

Ante:
A small, forced Bet that everyone at the Table is required to pay before each Hand (in games with an Ante).

Tournament Tips (Single Table)

First part you can find here >>>.
Today I want publish some Single-table tournament tips:
1. In case if you have few chips in the end, try to stay in game having successfully played very strong hand. For instance a higher pocket hand or AK/AQ. In case if you are a chip leader, play aggressively stealing blinds of your opponents. This way you can hold your preponderance and win the tournament.
2. In case if you are at an early stage of a tournament, accept little stakes and raises with a pocket pair. This way you will be able to get rid of a couple of opponents at flop.
3. Remember that same-suit combinations lower stake profit, because players are frequently play with a shot stack even in the beginning of a tournament. Even if your combination will succeed, you will hardly take a lot of money of your opponents in relation with whole bank. Having such hand, you must accept stakes and bet only in the beginning of tournament.
Don’t forget to make notes about your opponents. You will meet same players in many further games if you constantly play in single-table tournaments with same buy-in. Such records can be extremely important in future, because if you know emotions and behavior of your opponents – you have half won the game.

But take a look at the following situation that took place in Aviation Club in Paris – it’s a really surprising misfortune!
